
INDIANA — A 30-year-old man died following a shooting at an east Indianapolis motel Thursday evening, according to police.
The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. May 14 in the 6800 block of East 21st Street near Interstate 70 and Shadeland Avenue, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds at the motel. Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Joshua Thompson.
IMPD said a person was detained following the shooting but was later released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police said investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
