PENNSYLVANIA — A man is in critical condition after being shot at a hotel in Philadelphia’s Eastwick neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to the Hampton Inn in the 8600 block of Bartram Avenue following a report of a rape.
Investigators said the father of the alleged rape victim was also at the hotel and shot a man he believed was involved in the reported assault.
However, police later determined the man who was shot had no connection to the rape report.
The victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities said the father was taken into custody at the scene. No charges were immediately announced.
Philadelphia police continue to investigate both the shooting and the original rape report.
No additional information has been released.
