ALABAMA — A child was injured after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Sheffield, according to local officials.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Dover Avenue.
The boy, believed to be 6 or 7 years old, was walking to an ice cream truck when he was hit by a vehicle traveling about 15 mph. Authorities said the driver was traveling at the posted speed limit at the time of the collision.
The child suffered injuries but was alert and talking when emergency crews arrived.
He was transported to Helen Keller Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
