NORTH CAROLINA — A woman was found dead inside a home in Fayetteville early Wednesday morning, and a man is now in custody, according to police.

The Fayetteville Police Department said officers responded around 1:49 a.m. to a report of a suspicious person in the 4500 block of Ruby Road. During that response, officers made contact with a man and took him into custody.

Police say the man then led officers to a home in the 1000 block of Abrams Street. When officers entered the residence, they found a woman dead inside. Authorities said the woman had multiple stab wounds.

The department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is leading the investigation.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Officials have also not announced any charges at this time.

Police say the investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
