INDIANA — Authorities are investigating after the remains of an unidentified man were discovered in a wooded area in Elkhart on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Elkhart County Homicide Unit, the remains were found near the 2600 block of Links Drive at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a report of a body in the woods, prompting a response from Elkhart Police Department officers and other first responders. Upon arrival, officers located a partially decomposed male body in the wooded area.
Investigators said the man has not yet been identified.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated in accordance with protocol and has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Authorities described the case as an ongoing death investigation.
