
VIRGINIA — Police in Franklin are investigating a homicide after a man was found with a gunshot wound early Sunday morning, according to the Franklin Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to Bruce Street around 2:02 a.m. on April 19 in response to a report of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, they located a man who was later identified as 21-year-old Franklin resident Zaire Usher-Evans.
Authorities said Usher-Evans was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and the Southampton County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
Officials say the case remains active, and no additional information has been released at this time.
