ILLINOIS — A man was killed in a stabbing Monday night in Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood, and a suspect is now in custody, according to police.
The stabbing happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Harlem Avenue.
Chicago police said a 24-year-old man became involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a man he knew. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked the victim.
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where he later died.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Giovanni Martinez.
Police said a suspect was taken into custody, and charges were pending as of Tuesday morning. The investigation remains ongoing.
