ILLINOIS — One person was killed and another was injured in a crash involving a semi-truck early Saturday morning on the Tri-State Tollway in Lake County, according to Illinois State Police.
Troopers said the two-vehicle crash happened just before 5 a.m. on northbound Interstate 94 south of Illinois Route 120 near Gurnee.
Authorities said two people were taken to a local hospital following the crash. One of the victims later died from their injuries. Their identity has not yet been released.
Illinois State Police said the crash involved a semi-truck, though investigators have not said what led up to the collision.
Three northbound lanes of I-94 were closed Saturday morning as crews responded to the scene and troopers investigated the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
