
NORTH CAROLINA — A man was killed Friday afternoon in a crash involving a pickup truck and an SUV on Interstate 40 in Johnston County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. on I-40 near the Interstate 95 ramp in Benson.
Investigators said the collision involved a pickup truck and an SUV. According to troopers, the pickup truck appeared to have been sideswiped before overturning.
The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene, authorities said.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or information about the condition of the SUV driver.
The ramp from Interstate 95 southbound to Interstate 40 eastbound was closed for about 90 minutes while troopers investigated the crash. The roadway has since reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing.
