OKLAHOMA — A 64-year-old pedestrian was killed Friday morning after being struck by two vehicles on Interstate 44 near a construction zone in Tulsa, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the incident happened around 10:50 a.m. on I-44 westbound near South Union Avenue and Highway 75.

Authorities said a vehicle was stopped in the outside lane of the interstate, which had been closed because of construction in the area.

Investigators said the man ran into traffic on the westbound lanes of I-44 for an unknown reason and was struck by a westbound vehicle. Troopers said the pedestrian was then hit by a second westbound vehicle.

The victim died at the scene, according to OHP.

Officials have not released the identity of the pedestrian or information about the drivers involved.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
