One person dead following vehicle crash in Wisconsin

WISCONSIN — One person has died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the Town of La Prairie, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of East Highway 11 and South County Trunk G.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Janesville man was traveling northbound on South County Trunk G and attempted to turn west onto East Highway 11. At the same time, a 32-year-old Beloit man driving a truck was traveling southbound and entered the intersection, striking the other vehicle on the passenger side.

An 80-year-old passenger from San Mateo, California was removed from the vehicle and transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment. Officials said the passenger later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The victim’s name will be released at a later time by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Janesville Police Department, Town of Turtle Police Department, Town of Beloit Police Department and the Janesville Fire Department. The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team also assisted.

The crash remains under investigation.
