VIRGINIA — One person is dead following a crash on West Broad Street in Henrico County Saturday morning, according to police.
The Henrico County Police Division said officers responded to the eastbound lanes of West Broad Street on May 23 to investigate the deadly crash.
As of Saturday morning, eastbound traffic in the area remained closed while authorities conducted their investigation. Police urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
Officials said westbound traffic was still moving, but drivers were asked to slow down and use caution as first responders worked at the scene.
Detours were set up directing eastbound traffic from Broad Street to Wistar Road, then to Staples Mill Road and Glenside Drive before returning to Broad Street.
Additional details about the crash, including the identity of the person killed, were not immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
