TEXAS — A major roadway in Cherokee County has been shut down Friday afternoon following a fatal two-vehicle crash near New Summerfield.
According to authorities, the crash occurred on Highway 110 North just outside the New Summerfield city limits. Officials said the highway will remain closed for several hours while crews work to clear the scene and investigate.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, New Summerfield police officers and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the crash.
Texas DPS Sgt. Chris Williamson said a medical helicopter was deployed and placed on standby at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the person killed pending notification of family members.
Texas DPS is leading the investigation into the crash.
