TENNESSEE — An 84-year-old woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Unicoi, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on Unicoi Drive near Sugar Hollow Road. A preliminary THP report states that a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound while a Chevrolet S-10 was traveling southbound when the F-150 crossed the double yellow center line and struck the left front of the S-10 with its front center.
Investigators said the impact caused the F-150 to rotate counterclockwise before coming to rest in the roadway facing west. The S-10 came to rest off the roadway facing south.
The passenger in the S-10, identified as 84-year-old Betty Edwards, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Johnson City Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the report.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said charges against the driver of the F-150 are pending the outcome of the investigation.
