
OHIO — A driver was killed Tuesday night in a single-vehicle crash in Trumbull County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Warren Post are investigating the crash, which occurred around 8 p.m. on Oakfield North Road Northwest near Mahan Denman Road Northwest in Bristol Township.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling southbound on Oakfield North Road Northwest when it went off the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle then caught fire, trapping the driver inside.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said lifesaving efforts were attempted, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the driver. The name will be released at a later date pending notification of family members.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional occupants were in the vehicle.
Troopers said alcohol or drug use is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department, Trumbull County Coroner’s Office, Farmington Fire and EMS, and the Bristol Fire Department.
