Two people dead following vehicle crash in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Two people died in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night in east Raleigh, according to police.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. on the 400 block of South New Hope Road near Interstate 87, the Raleigh Police Department said.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash. Police said at least two people died from injuries suffered in the crash.

South New Hope Road was closed for several hours Sunday morning while investigators processed the scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Police have not released the identity of the person who died, and no additional details about the crash were immediately available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
