
MISSISSIPPI — A 17-year-old girl was killed and two other teenagers were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Hinds County, according to the Jackson Police Department.
The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 49 at Cynthia Road.
Investigators said a gray 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling south on Highway 49 when a 2023 Honda Accord crossed into the opposing lane and collided with the SUV.
Police said the Accord was driven by an 18-year-old who suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
A 17-year-old girl riding in the front passenger seat of the Accord suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the crash, authorities said.
A 15-year-old boy who was riding in the back seat of the Accord also suffered serious injuries. Officials said he was transported to a hospital and was listed in stable condition but with critical injuries.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander was transported to a hospital complaining of pain.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
The Jackson Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
