KENTUCKY — A 73-year-old man from Corbin was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Knox County, according to authorities.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department said the crash happened around 7 p.m. on April 29 on KY-25 East near Higgins Road. Emergency crews were dispatched after 911 received reports of the collision.
Investigators said Alfred Smith was attempting to make a left turn from KY-25 onto KY-1232 when he crossed into the path of a southbound 2025 Chevy Silverado driven by 29-year-old Cody Cox of Pineville. The two vehicles collided and came to rest near the shoulder of the roadway.
Smith was taken to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was pronounced dead by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. Cox’s condition has not been released.
Officials said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
