GEORGIA — A 5-year-old child was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Carroll County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 5 p.m. on May 2 on Shady Grove Road.
Preliminary findings indicate a Toyota 4Runner was traveling northbound when it attempted to navigate a curve. The driver failed to maintain the lane and traveled off the shoulder. When the driver attempted to correct, the vehicle lost control and began to overturn.
Authorities said the child, who was a backseat passenger, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a front-seat passenger reported injuries but declined medical transport.
The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
