
FLORIDA — One person is dead and two others were hospitalized following an early morning crash in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, according to police.
The St. Petersburg Police Department responded to the crash around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and 9th Avenue South.
Investigators said a white Toyota Camry was attempting to back out of a parking lot at the Sunshine Food Mart when it entered the roadway and was struck on the passenger side by a black Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South.
Authorities identified the victim as 29-year-old Tamara Williams, who was a passenger in the Toyota. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the Jeep were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Police said the driver of the Jeep was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with investigators.
The crash remains under investigation.
