ARIZONA — One person was killed and another was critically injured after a vehicle crashed into a church in Page on Friday morning, according to the Page Police Department.
Emergency crews were called around 11 a.m. June 5 to the Lake Powell Nazarene Church following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
When first responders arrived, they found an unresponsive woman who had been driving the vehicle and a male passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.
Officials said lifesaving efforts were performed on the driver, but she died at the scene. The passenger was transported to Page Hospital before being transferred to a Level 1 trauma center in critical condition.
According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling north on Lake Powell Boulevard when it left the roadway, jumped a curb and crashed into the church building.
Police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. It remains unknown whether impairment contributed to the incident.
The identity of the woman who died has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
