GEORGIA — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Appling County, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 27 and Graham Methodist Church Road.
Investigators said a Chevrolet Trailblazer was stopped at the intersection and failed to yield to a westbound Chevrolet Equinox traveling on State Route 27.
The collision caused the Equinox to overturn multiple times. During the rollover, an unrestrained rear-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
Authorities said the vehicle came to rest on top of the passenger, who died at the scene.
Deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash and confirmed the fatality before requesting assistance from the Georgia State Patrol.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the crash.
State Route 27 was closed for about two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
