
VIRGINIA — A 33-year-old man has died following a shooting late Thursday night in Portsmouth, according to police.
Officers responded around 11:59 p.m. to the 1100 block of Virginia Avenue after receiving a gunshot detection alert.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later identified as Bernard William Parks, 33.
Medics transported Parks to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
