SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and two bystanders were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning near the College of Charleston campus, according to the Charleston Police Department.
Police said the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on King Street near Burns Lane.
Investigators said the suspect and one of the victims got into an argument on the sidewalk outside Gilroy’s Pizza Pub before the suspect opened fire.
Three people were struck in the shooting and taken to a hospital. One victim later died from their injuries, police said.
Authorities said one of the other victims suffered life-threatening injuries, while the third victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Police said the two injured bystanders were not involved in the argument. A College of Charleston timely warning notification stated the victims do not appear to be connected to the school.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made.
Charleston police are asking anyone with information to call 843-720-2422 to speak with an on-duty detective or submit an anonymous tip online.
