LOUISIANA — One person was killed and another injured in an early morning shooting Monday along North 16th Street, according to authorities.
Officials said first responders were dispatched around 2:45 a.m. to the area near the intersection of North 16th and Bay streets, where they discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office later arrived on scene and confirmed that one of the victims had died. Authorities began investigating the incident as a fatal shooting.
The second victim was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
No additional information about the victims or potential suspects has been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
