INDIANA — A woman is dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in Elkhart County, authorities said.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check in the 30000 block of County Road 18 shortly before 3 a.m. on May 24.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman unresponsive with a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has been contacted to investigate the shooting.
Authorities have not released the woman’s identity, and no additional information about possible suspects or circumstances surrounding the shooting was immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
