ALABAMA — A 17-year-old girl died after suffering a gunshot wound in Birmingham late Tuesday night, according to authorities.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Destiny Lawson of Birmingham. Officials said the shooting happened around 10:21 p.m. in the 100 block of 17th Street SW.
Authorities said Lawson suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead following the incident.
The coroner’s office said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
Birmingham Police are continuing to investigate the case. No additional information has been released.
