OHIO — A 77-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Ashtabula County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers identified the victim as Paul King, 77, of Newton Falls.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. near State Route 307 and Windsor-Mechanicsville Road in Austinburg Township.
Investigators said King was driving a Ford Transit carrying a 77-year-old woman from Newton Falls when the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on State Route 307. The Ford then collided with a Toyota Tacoma, causing the pickup truck to overturn.
According to troopers, the Ford also went off the roadway and struck two parked vehicles after the collision.
King died at the scene.
The woman riding in the Ford was initially taken to University Hospitals in Geneva before being flown to a Cleveland hospital. Authorities said her injuries are considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Toyota, a 63-year-old Jefferson man, was taken to University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
