VIRGINIA — A motorcyclist died following a crash early Sunday morning on Riverview Road in James City County, according to the James City County Police Department.
Police said the crash was reported at approximately 5:56 a.m. on June 28 in the 5800 block of Riverview Road. The motorcyclist was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The James City County Police Crash Team remains at the scene conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
As the investigation continues, Riverview Road is closed in both directions between York River State Park and Newman Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
Police said additional information will be released as the investigation progresses and after the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
