NEW JERSEY — A 70-year-old motorcyclist was killed and another rider was seriously injured in a two-motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Burlington County, according to New Jersey State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 4:37 p.m. on County Road 542 in Washington Township.
A preliminary investigation found that Paul Roth, 70, of Whiting, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle behind another Harley-Davidson when the front of his motorcycle struck the rear of the motorcycle ahead of him.
Authorities said the impact caused the lead motorcycle to overturn. Roth’s motorcycle also overturned, left the roadway and struck a road sign. Both riders were ejected from their motorcycles.
Roth suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
