INDIANA — A 69-year-old man died after a motorcycle crash Thursday evening in LaPorte County, according to police.
Authorities said the crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. on State Road 39 near County Road 950 South. Police said Eddie Smith, of North Judson, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound when he crossed the center line, traveled through the northbound lane and went off the roadway.
Investigators said Smith was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.
Smith was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries, police said.
Authorities said alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
