ILLINOIS — A 36-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Thursday night on Chicago’s Far South Side, according to police.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Ashland Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
Chicago police said the man was standing outside in the area when he was struck by a beige sedan traveling east on 87th Street.
Investigators said the driver continued eastbound after the crash and did not stop.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity.
The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
