
MISSOURI — One person is dead after a high-speed crash Thursday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, according to police.
The Kansas City Police Department said officers responded around 2:15 p.m. to the area of 83rd Street and Flora Avenue following reports of a crash.
Investigators said a gray Honda Accord was speeding south on Flora Avenue when the driver lost control, veered off the roadway, crossed through a yard and struck a tree in front of a home.
First responders transported the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver later died.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
According to KCPD, the crash marked the department’s 28th traffic fatality of 2026, compared to 24 at the same point last year.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
