PENNSYLVANIA — A 22-year-old ATV rider was killed after crashing into an Uber carrying four juvenile passengers in Philadelphia on Saturday night, police said.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the crash happened around 9:24 p.m. at the intersection of 15th Street and Thompson Street.

Investigators said the ATV rider was traveling westbound the wrong way on Thompson Street while a gray Toyota operating as an Uber was traveling eastbound. Police said the Uber driver was turning right onto 15th Street when the ATV rider ran a red light and collided with the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The ATV rider was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said.

The Uber driver, a 35-year-old man, was also hospitalized and is listed in stable condition. The four juvenile passengers were taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.

Police have not released the identity of the ATV rider.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
