FLORIDA — A driver was killed early Sunday morning in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Nassau County, and Florida Highway Patrol investigators are working to identify the victim.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:37 a.m. at the intersection of Sadler Road and South 8th Street.
Investigators said a sedan was traveling westbound on Sadler Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and left the roadway, striking a palm tree.
Authorities said the vehicle caught fire after the crash, trapping the driver inside. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP said the victim had not been identified as of Sunday afternoon, and next of kin had not yet been notified.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
