FLORIDA — An 18-year-old man died early Sunday after losing control of his vehicle on a wet roadway, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Officers said the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of 68th Avenue North and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North.
Police identified the driver as Angel Burke, who was operating a Dodge Charger southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North. Investigators say Burke attempted to pass another vehicle when he lost control.
The vehicle slid sideways, causing the driver’s side doors to strike a tree. Burke was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
