
GEORGIA — A driver was killed early Friday morning after a crash involving a semi-truck on Cornelia Highway at Kubota Way, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the crash happened just after 2:40 a.m. on Cornelia Highway, also known as State Route 365.
According to the sheriff’s office Accident Investigation Unit, a tractor-trailer was stopped at a red light in the southbound lanes when a passenger vehicle traveling southbound crashed into the rear of the truck.
Authorities said the car became wedged underneath the truck’s rear bumper. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Investigators are working to notify the victim’s next of kin, and the driver’s name has not yet been released.
The southbound lanes of Cornelia Highway were closed for about three hours while authorities investigated the crash.
