TEXAS — A pedestrian was killed in a late-night crash in Houston, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Houston Police Department, southeast patrol officers responded around 10:20 p.m. Friday to the 5400 block of Selinsky Road for reports of an auto-pedestrian collision involving one vehicle.
Officials said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department. The identity of the victim has not been released.
Police reported that the driver, a 30-year-old man, remained at the scene following the crash and did not show signs of impairment when officers arrived.
Investigators said a witness attempted to move the victim out of the roadway after reportedly seeing the individual sitting on the curb prior to the collision. Authorities also noted the area was poorly lit. It remains unclear whether the victim was experiencing homelessness.
The case is being handled by the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, and the investigation remains ongoing.
