
OHIO — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle late Monday night in Canton, according to police.
Officers responded around 11:14 p.m. to the 2900 block of Market Avenue North for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Police said a 2010 Dodge Journey was traveling northbound in the center lane when it struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound across the street.
The pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries. Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Investigators said drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors for the driver. It remains unclear whether impairment played a role for the pedestrian.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
