
INDIANA — At least one person was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 40 in Putnam County, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation Traffic Management Center.
An INDOT alert issued at approximately 7:06 p.m. reported that all westbound lanes of U.S. 40 were closed at Appleblossom Drive due to a motorist being struck. The location is about six miles east of the Harmony area.
A second alert issued at 9:01 p.m. stated that all lanes remained closed and confirmed one fatality.
No additional details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the crash were immediately available Friday night.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as the investigation continued. The closure remained in effect as of the latest update.
