LOUISIANA — A 20-year-old woman was killed Monday evening after being struck by a pickup truck while walking near her home in Livingston Parish, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Troopers identified the woman as Christa Prestridge, 20.
The crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. Monday on Louisiana Highway 42 near Range Line Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2017 Dodge Ram was traveling east on LA 42 when, for reasons still under investigation, Prestridge walked into the roadway in front of her home and was struck by the truck.
Troopers said Prestridge died at the scene from her injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured. Investigators said impairment is not suspected, though routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
