
FLORIDA — Seven bus passengers were injured, including one person seriously, after a crash involving a bus and pickup truck Tuesday morning in Lee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 6:08 a.m. in Alva at the intersection of First Street and State Road 80.
Troopers said a 2011 Freightliner B2 bus traveling north on First Street attempted to turn left onto State Road 80 and stopped in the paved median. Investigators said the rear left side of the bus extended into the eastbound travel lane.
According to FHP, a 2019 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling east on State Road 80 collided with the rear left side of the bus.
Seven adult passengers on the bus were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, troopers said. The 31-year-old bus driver from Arcadia was not injured.
Authorities said the 64-year-old pickup truck driver from Lehigh Acres was transported to a hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
All roads in the area were reopened by about 9:30 a.m., according to officials.
The crash remains under investigation.
