
OHIO — A 55-year-old man died Monday night after being struck by a train in Fremont, according to police.
The victim has been identified as Mark Traver.
Fremont police said they were contacted by Norfolk Southern police shortly after 11 p.m. regarding a pedestrian who had been hit by a train. The incident occurred just north of State Street.
According to police, Traver was walking on the tracks when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sandusky County Coroner will conduct an autopsy, though authorities say no foul play is suspected.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Travers family as well as the Norfolk and Southern Conductors and staff that are dealing first hand with the loss of a loved one and tragic event,” the Fremont Police Department said in a statement.
