
FLORIDA — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a freight train in Cocoa, according to police.
The incident happened near State Road 520 and U.S. 1, authorities said. Investigators said an FEC freight train struck the pedestrian, though additional details about the circumstances of the crash were not immediately released.
Police closed State Road 520 in both directions near U.S. 1 and Blake Avenue while officers investigated the scene. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Authorities have not said how long the road closure is expected to remain in place.
