PENNSYLVANIA — A 75-year-old man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in a Lancaster County Sheetz store parking lot over the weekend, according to police.

East Lampeter Township Police identified the victim as Daniel Sweeney, of Gordonville.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the Sheetz located in the 2400 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in Lancaster.

Police said a tractor-trailer driven by a 30-year-old man from Enola was traveling east through the parking lot and stopped for other traffic. After the traffic cleared, the driver proceeded forward and struck Sweeney, who was walking from the gas pumps toward the front of the store and was in front of the truck.

Sweeney was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lancaster County Crash Team #2 responded to assist with the investigation. Authorities said the crash remains under investigation by the East Lampeter Township Police Department.
