LOUISIANA — A 47-year-old man died after being struck by a Regional Transit Authority bus early Sunday morning in New Orleans, according to police.
The crash happened around 12:12 a.m. at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Jackson Avenue. Investigators said the RTA bus was traveling westbound on South Claiborne Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian.
The man was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The New Orleans Police Department’s Traffic Fatality Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office is also involved in the investigation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
