MARYLAND — A 56-year-old man was arrested after authorities say he impersonated a law enforcement officer in the Joppatowne area.

According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first encountered the suspect on April 30 after spotting a vehicle displaying red and blue emergency lights. When questioned, the driver claimed to be a police officer and presented what appeared to be official credentials.

Officials said deputies noticed inconsistencies during the encounter and launched a follow-up investigation. The Maryland State Police later confirmed the individual was not a sworn law enforcement officer in the state.

On May 1, deputies located and arrested the suspect, identified as Robert Dicocco. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Harford County Detention Center.

During the execution of search warrants, investigators recovered a number of items, including a fraudulent identification card, badges, and law-enforcement-style clothing.

Dicocco has been charged with 10 counts related to impersonating a police officer. He was later released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone who may have been stopped or approached by Dicocco while he was posing as an officer to contact Sergeant Majewski at 443-567-7078.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
