One person arrested following stabbing incident in Ohio

OHIO — An 18-year-old Newark man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing in Licking County on Thursday night, according to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the 100 block of Second Street NE in Mary Ann Township, about eight miles northeast of Newark, for a reported stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they found two victims suffering from injuries. Both were transported to Licking Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities did not release information about their conditions.

Investigators identified the suspect as Luke Hummel, of Newark, who allegedly left the scene before deputies arrived.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hummel was later located and arrested in the 800 block of Matthews Avenue in Zanesville, approximately 30 miles southeast of Mary Ann Township.

Hummel was taken to the Licking County Justice Center, where he was booked on charges of aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

The incident remains under investigation.
