OHIO — A man is facing a felony drug charge after police reported finding a large amount of cocaine during a traffic stop on the city’s West Side.
According to reports, officers pulled over a vehicle around 10:50 a.m. Friday near Mahoning and South Maryland avenues for failure to yield and illegal window tint.
Police said the driver, identified as Isaac Ford, 36, appeared nervous and agitated. Due to prior complaints of drug activity in the area, an officer requested assistance from a K-9 unit.
A Liberty police dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Authorities said Ford then told officers there was cocaine under the passenger seat.
Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly found a package believed to weigh about one kilogram.
Police also reported that Ford had $3,240 in cash on him at the time of the arrest.
Ford is expected to be arraigned in municipal court on a first-degree felony charge of drug possession. He was being held in the Mahoning County jail.
