INDIANA — An Evansville man was arrested on multiple charges after an overnight fight outside a bar and a struggle with police early Sunday morning, according to the Evansville Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched shortly after 1 a.m. to the 1800 block of North Green River Road for a report of a fight in progress outside a bar.

When officers arrived, they spoke with 34-year-old Kevin Kyler, who denied being involved in an altercation. However, another man at the scene told officers Kyler had been involved in a fight, police said.

Authorities attempted to detain Kyler, but investigators said he began pulling away and resisting officers. Police used a leg sweep maneuver to take him to the ground and place him into custody.

According to police, two victims reported that Kyler approached them wanting to play pool. They said he became upset, started arguing with one of the men and allegedly headbutted him. Investigators also said a woman reported being punched in the face by Kyler.

While officers were placing Kyler into a police transport vehicle, police said he continued to resist and was ultimately placed into a WRAP restraint device.

Kyler was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, battery causing bodily injury, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement causing bodily injury.

The incident remains under investigation.
